An overview of media formats, with a focus on video, and how to change between them. Explore the world of media formats, analog and digital and transcoding (the process of switching between formats). We’ll work with media formats from VHS and Hi-8 to DVD and digital formats (MP4, AVI, MKV).
Facilitator: Jeff Comfrey and Trillium Shannon
Jeff Comfrey is a technologist that provides technical support to people doing good things. Jeff is a free software advocate who has been working in Portland for over eight years. He is also member of infotage.net, a local technology collective.
Trillium Shannon is a member of the Circle A Radio collective at KBOO, and a volunteer with the Portland Central America Solidarity Committee. She has overcome her distaste for the tech world, in order to use these valuable tools in movement building projects here in Portland and across borders.
