Get your cause noticed and on the agenda of the local and wider media through letters to the editor, guest columns, working with reporters, and attending editorial board meetings. Participants should leave feeling confident about working with the press/broadcast news, and having their organization prepared for media needs in order to turn a short news bite into a feature story, editorial or even a nationwide campaign.

Facilitator: Joanne Zuhl
Having worked in the mainstream media for 11 years, I’m now the managing editor of Street Roots, a nonprofit, social justice newspaper in Portland, and a co-host of We The People, an hour-long radio show on KBOO that focuses on constitutional and human rights issues. I’m also a member of the executive committee of the North American Street Newspaper Association and the board of directors of the International Network of Street Papers.

This workshop is schedule on Sunday from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.
